Instructional Design Certificate
The graduate-level Instructional Design professional development certificate provides students with the skills, knowledge, and abilities necessary to design effective, technology-enhanced instruction, select appropriate instructional strategies, develop computer-mediated training, and manage instructional development projects. Below is the work I submitted to complete the certificate.
EDUC 765: Trends and Issues in Instructional Design
This course covers an in-depth comparison of current instructional design theories and models, principles of adult learning, variables that affect adult learning, techniques for stimulating and sustaining learner motivation, reinforcement of learning, skill transfer, and use of cognitive task analysis to determine instructional content.

EDUC 766: Instructional Strategies and Assessment Methods
This course provides research-based methods for assessing learner performance and mapping appropriate assessment methods to instructional strategies and learning objectives.

EDUC 767: Designing Computer-Based Training
This course introduces learners to scenario-based modular development, user interface design, visual design, usability testing, and instructional strategies employed in self-paced products.
Here is the RLO - Reusable Learning Object - I made for the class, along with the relevant design documentation. Click on the image to access it.
The RLO was developed using Articulate Storyline 360, Vyond, and Audacity, as well as Microsoft PowerPoint.
Design Document
This document - created using the Microsoft Office Suite - details all the RLO specifications, including a flowchart and sample slide designs for the RLO.
Storyboard
This document - created using the Microsoft Office Suite and the Snagit tool - provides a slide-by-slide breakdown of the RLO for stakeholders and the development team, including displayed text, narrated text, images, and notes for programming and slide creation.
Usability Test
This document details the usability test conducted on the RLO before it was made available for use. I drafted the questions and submitted this form to a fellow designer to complete. The tester had web and ZIP file access to a prototype of the finished RLO.
Final Reflection
Upon completion of the course and the RLO, I reflected on the lessons learned and considered how I will be able to apply my newfound skills and knowledge to a future career in instructional design.
